Billing & Credits

SuperClawd uses a credit-based billing system. Credits are consumed when AI instructions are retrieved through SuperClawd.

Billing Account Tiers

Billing accounts have two tiers: Free and Paid.

Free Tier

All new billing accounts start on the free tier with limited entity creation per workspace. There are no credit charges on the free tier — checkpoint notifications (desktop and webhook) are free for everyone.

Paid accounts unlock higher limits per linked workspace. Your billing account is automatically upgraded to the paid tier after your first credit purchase.

See the Limits page for detailed information on tier limits.

Upgrade is automatic

You don't need to manually upgrade your billing account. Simply purchase credits and your account will be upgraded to the paid tier automatically.

How Credits Work

  1. Credit Reserve — When you make a request, credits are temporarily reserved from your balance
  2. Processing — Your request is processed and instructions are delivered
  3. Finalization — The final credit amount is calculated and deducted
  4. Tracking — All transactions are recorded for transparency

Credit Consumption

Credits are consumed based on:

  • Number of instructions delivered
  • Complexity of skill matching
  • Session activity

Markdown skills count as zero instructions, so activating one on its own falls to the minimum charge per request (0.4 credits on paid accounts, 0 on free).

Reading a workspace memory is also metered: a get_memories call that returns one or more repo or agent memories is charged a flat 0.10 credits per call on paid accounts (free on the free tier). Private memory reads are always free (account-scoped), and team memories are free (injected at session start, not metered).

Transaction Types

  4. Click Link

Auto Top-Up

Configure automatic credit purchases to never run out:

  1. Open your billing account
  2. Go to Auto Top-Up Settings
  3. Enable auto top-up
  4. Set the threshold (e.g., when balance falls below 50 credits)
  5. Select the credit pack to purchase automatically
  6. Save settings
Recommended setting

Set your threshold higher than your typical daily usage to avoid running out during active development sessions.

Auto Top-Up Failures

If an auto top-up payment fails, the system will retry up to 3 times within a 6-hour window:

  • First failure — You receive a notification about the failed payment
  • Second failure — Another notification is sent
  • Third failure — Final notification; auto top-up is paused for this billing account

After 3 consecutive failures, auto top-up notifications stop to avoid spamming your inbox. The failure counter resets automatically when:

  • You update your payment method
  • A manual credit purchase succeeds
  • 6 hours pass since the last failure attempt
Payment method issues

If your auto top-up keeps failing, check that your card hasn't expired and has sufficient funds. You can update your payment method in the billing settings.
